He's always designing - 24/7. He's a charter member of that rare breed of creative humans that constantly find themselves light years ahead of the curve. Never tell him it can't be done. Bending the edges of all conventional thought (and occasionally the space-time continuum) is a daily event.
Michael Ray Irwin's vast and varied experience with just about any material or media you can imagine is merely the support structure for a mind best described as DaVinci meets Ron Popeil.
For 20 years, Michael Ray's designs have directly influenced worldwide trends in product design. Long before the words "functional" and "art" were used in the same sentence, his pieces were wowing their audiences.
As fortune would have it, the journey hasn't always been fun. Serious injuries have sidelined the artist twice. "My drive to express these ideas has only been intensified by the struggles with my health" he says.
Custom designed telephones have been Michael Ray's primary focus since he and his wife Carin started their business in 1988. Recognizing a void in the functional decor market, they launched Custom-Phones.com in 1999, which has grown to be the largest residential telephone store on the web. Other Fun Home Products online stores include Fun-Clocks.com, Fun-Lamps.com and Fun-Radios.com, bringing the total offerings of this functional decor empire to over 5,000 products.
What's next? "I'm so psyched about my Visionary House project. It will allow me to run the creative gamut and help needy and disabled kids at the same time." says Michael Ray. The artist plans to transform the interior of a home into a live-in sculpture and multi-use community facility called Visionary House
